Lower Cape Ambulance was established as a regional service to provide transports for residents and guests on the Lower Cape in 1937.  Today, our mission remains to be “always at the ready” when an EMS transport is needed.

Times have changed. The Lower Cape is now known as the Outer Cape, the summer population continues to grow, and over the past two years, we have seen our year-round population grow as people work remotely. As a result, the need for EMS services has grown as well.  We can transport as many patients on a January day as we can on an August day.

We face the same issues that departments across the country are facing: the need for qualified EMTs and paramedics, more funding to provide higher wages for employees, and the need for affordable housing in our local communities for employees to reside.

We are grateful for the support we receive from the communities we serve and the many donors who support us.

Most importantly, we are grateful to our crew, who daily go above and beyond to provide the highest quality care on what is the longest transport to an emergency room in Massachusetts!
